I must profusely apologise for my tardyness concerning updating this site.

Right, now that's out of the way....

Scripts are coming together for the debut, ISSUE ZERO of 'Futurboy', 'Jenny X and The Body Doubles' may or may not have transformed into something slightly different depending on cicumstances to be cleared up soon, and 'Truckers' is going thru final stages of design and tweaking the script.

 

In other news, I completed a commission for URBIS in Manchester, for their Manga exhibition. I did a massive timeline, with something in the region of 20 illustrations, ranging from explanatory panels to little character narrative boxes. Turned out pretty good too. Plus, I got a review of the piece from '....'

By that I mean you should go and check it out if you're in Manchester, it's a good introduction to Manga and will no doubt enlighten those of you who haven't been paying attention thus far.

The money from that commission has enabled me to upgrade my ailing rig to a hefty QUAD CORE! Go check out my SPEC page to see what I've actually got now.

 

DAVEYDOUBLE.COM may be changing sometime in the future, or at the very least a welcome addition to the site. More and more of my time is taken up with audio production, and as such, the site in the near future is likely to split, with one half dedicated to my audio work, the other to illustration and graphics.

Chances are that it'll all stay under one roof tho, simply because having two personal/professional websites is a little extreme.... even for me.

Hello again people. I've done it again haven't I? Sat there and thought, I'll update my site tomorrow. And lo and behold, I wasted another two months on fannying about and putting it off!

I don't think I've done any sketcing recently, apart from for the cover of my band's new CD, which should be out in March all things going to plan.
So I'm doing that, as well as trying to organise the rehearsals, recording, demo's, booking gigs, doing posters. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some of the gig flyers I'm doing for the band.
And hopefully in the very near future, the comics I've been working on will be ready.

There are three, along with websites for the comics company, IMF COMICS that I'm trying in vain to set up.
The first will be Jenny X & The Body Doubles, which is the tale of how Jenny X, TBD's devilgirl mascot, abducts them from a back street bar and takes them on a tour of hell, getting them a record deal with the Devil's own record label, in return for their infernal soul's. A bit like Dante's Inferno or The Divine Comedy meets Spinal Tap. It's going to be a one-shot, possibly followed by a short single series.

The second is Futurboy And The Angels Of Destiny, which is a bit like a cross between William Gibson's Neuromancer and Idoru, and Gen13. Lots of fun, lots of action and lots of dumbness. Hopefully, we'll get the first mini-series scripted and then we can get a one-shot preview out.

And the third, will be Truckers, which is my baby. It started off as my attempt to re-write Thundercats for a modern sci-fi audience. And eventually it morphed into what can only be described as a combination of childish banter, aliens, and explosive and uncalled for violence. And pirates. I was gutted when Firefly/Serenity came out, thinking it had covered the idea, but in the end, it was a space western, and this comic is all about truckers. Greasy, space-faring, cargo carrying, alien hating, bickering truckers. And their AI. The first series is nearly fully scripted, and it's nearly time for me to sharpen my pencils.

There are other comics in the works too, like 99 KILLS which is uber dark and very much like seeing what would happen if you took Clint Eastwood's 'Angel' and Bruce Willis' 'John McClane' and put them in a universe not unlike Unreal Tournament. But it's a prison. But more on that when we get some more.

And there was me thinking I'd done bugger all since I last updated.

So another month goes by and time for another update, I've scanned in some more sketches and I've added them to the relevant sections, I've had a little dry spell, inspiration wise, as we artists do from time to time (dah-ling) but I just thought I couldn't be arsed not drawing, as that would mean I'd have to find something proper to do with my time.

So I've done some sketches and I'm working a couple of them up into final pieces which should be here some time around the year 2020 I reckon.

Well, you can't have everthing!

::1:: ::OIL BATH:: I did this while I was holiday, just started doodling some mecha and then decided to have a pop at a proper piece rather than some more design work, so I did. And this is what, eventually, happened.
::2:: ::RED MECHA:: Another one I did on holiday, this is me finally getting round to having a crack at my Mucha/Mecha idea.
::3:: ::KEI FROM THE DIRTY PAIR (ADAM WARREN):: I thought I'd just do a quick rendition of Adam Warren's Kei as I'd draw her, and it was a lot of fun. For a sketch, I mean. And I started doing Yuri, but I havent finished it, but I think I'll have a go at doing some cool pin-ups of them, one of each and then a couple of action shots I think should be enough.
::4:: ::SHEER HEAVEN:: This is a current WIP I've been working on periodically for a littel while, partly cos it seems to take my computer about 3 weeks to open the file, but mainly cos I don't want to rush it.

 
plus, there's some more stuff under SKETCHES in the SKETCHBOOK SECTION from what I did while everyone else was sunning themselves by the pool.

So, first update of the new site eh? Well, I've added some links on the links page, I've also uploaded some new images, which I'll list at the bottom of the update cos I haven't thumbed them yet.
I've also added some animations to the GALLERY SECTION. I like them, I think they're funny. The reason I did the box was cos everyone else does a bouncy ball. So I did a box. the other one I just thought was amusing.

COVER ARTWORK FOR TBD's 'ATOMICA EP - Was fun to do, Finally uploaded it. I'll probably render off a better bigger version and scrap this one. A bit too small

FIRE NYMPH - In the middle of this so it's a WIP. PENCILS, INKS, and FLAT COLOUR versions are up tho. This made me want to do a full tutorial. So I'm thinking I'm going to sit down and sketch a nice image ,and then compile a full tutorial for it.
